Do you have an existing app that needs work? Or perhaps improvements that needs fleshing out with people that know apps inside out? With the Design Review package, we will provide a detailed report on it’s design and usability, with suggestions on how improvements can be made.
Through this process we review the core idea of the app and provide feedback that will enable you to refine the experience and improve your understanding of what else is out there, what the competition are doing (good and bad) and how you can improve monetisation through various revenue streams.
Each screen of the app will be reviewed from a user’s perspective to gain an understanding of how intuitive the functionality is, whether there are any sticking points or road blocks in the user experience.
Within the design report we will provide suggestions as to how that functionality and user experience can be improved, to increase the chances of users returning to your app and keeping it on their devices. The visual style and user interaction will also be reviewed and we will give supportive input, enabling you to make your app really stand out from the crowd.
This is a two day workshop that is essentially a highly focused and compressed version of our normal design process. The results will then be used to create high resolution designs of 4 key screens (or screen states) for your app. This could be an existing app that needs a redesign, or a new app that needs bringing to life.
The workshop will take place at our office near Reading, Berkshire. If you would prefer to hold the workshop at your location, please email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss viability and cost.
The workshop kicks off with a general discussion to evaluate the issues and potential solutions, visuals, competition, monetisation and usability.
Together we will create user personas, that enable us to understand how your app might be viewed and used by different people. We will explore potential journeys for those users, starting with their goal, feel used, tasks involved and the results. This story mapping will help discover potential issues or sticking points.
Through continued discussion and brainstorming we work through potential solutions to any of the issues discovered by our user personas, helping us build a large feature list.
We then take to the walls with sticky notes and refine these features, categorising them into “Essentials”, “Would improve basic functions”, and “Nice to Haves”. This will result in a set of features that define the minimum viable product (MVP) [link to a definition online of MVP] - the most stripped down version of the app that solves the issues raised through previous exercises in the workshop.
Next step will involve taking the MVP feature set and create Mockups & Wireframes. This is where we starting to think about the screens that need to exist within the app in order for a user to use those features, and the relationships those screens have with each other. We iterate on the design and layout of these main screens, ensuring that they are intuitive in their connections and the functions they are to perform.
The workshop will be fully summarised within a Discovery Document, along with hi-fidelity designs for at least 4 of the key screens based upon the results of the Mockup stage. You can then use the Discovery Document to discuss further with members of your team or present to stakeholders or potential investors.
This is the “Full Monty” of our design packages, combining all of the great learning and exploration exercises of both the Design Review and the Design Workshop, topped off with a highly polished design of up to 20 screens turned into an interactive prototype and assets. This can all be handed to developers (ours or those of your choosing) to base their code upon. The interactive prototype is a fantastic way to give stakeholders and investors a chance to get a real “hands-on” feel of how the app will work.
Following the two day workshop (timescales to be confirmed by all parties), we will provide up to 20 fully designed, high resolution mockups of screens or states of your app. The screens will be decided by yourselves, based upon the Mockups and Wireframes created within the workshop.
All assets from the design of the app will be created in Sketch and the original “.sketch” file will be provided. These can then be very easily exported to online tools such as Zeplin (https://zeplin.io/), allowing them to inspect every aspect of the designs, from measurements and positions of elements, to colours - even export assets at all the sizes they require with the tap of a button.
The design process will be subject to a maximum of 2 rounds of amends.
We will be in touch within one business day to kick off the process by asking some questions and requesting some basic information from you based on the package you purchased.
We will strive to meet your schedule constraints. Once a project launch date has been confirmed:
Design Review: 1-2 weeks turnaround time.
Workshop: Schedule to occur within 2-4 weeks of booking.
Prototype: Workshop within 2-4 weeks of booking and final work product within 6 weeks after the workshop is complete.
Something about how we have in-house development at our core, we can build upon the work developed in the package with complete bespoke development for iOS and Android. For more information get in touch by emailing email@example.com
Absolutely, just send us an email: firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss your project.
